‘Covid-19 can’t affect economy for PM’s dynamic leadership’

Awami League Presidium Member and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Agriculture Matia Chowdhury, MP, has said that the developed countries of the world were devastated by the Corona pandemic but it did not have much impact on Bangladesh's economy due to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's dynamic leadership. 

Regarding the installation of Bangabandhu’s sculpture, she said, “There are visible sculptures in many Muslim countries of the world. There is a sculpture of Allama Sheikh Saadi in Siraj city of Iran which I have seen with my own eyes. So without understanding the difference between sculpture and religious idol, a group is trying to fish in muddy waters spreading manipulative rumours.”

Matia Chowdhury said thesewhile addressing a discussion on the occasion of distributing solar lights among students and  financial grants among various mosques under different unions of Nakla Upazila in Sherpur on Thursday. Sherpur Superintendent of Police Kazi Ashraful Azim, UNO Zahidur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Billal Hossain, OC Mushfiqur Rahman, Upazila Awami League Secretary Bir Muktijoddha Shafiqul Islam Jinnah, Municipal Mayor Hafizur Rahman Liton, former Upazila Chairman Mahbubul Alam Sohag, concerned UP chairmen and administration officials were present at the programme.

Matia Chowdhury said that Bangladesh is advancing forward facing various challenges event the Covid-19 pandemic. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working restlessly for betterment of the countrymen, she added. 

The former agriculture minister said all the people should use facemask to protect them from Covid-19. The government is working to protect the people from second wave of the Covid-19. 

In the last two days, she distributed solar lamps among 1,500 students of 24 madrasas and 119 government primary schools in Nakla upazila. At the same, she distributed financial grants and corrugated tin among various temples and mosques in 

the upazila.
