Covered van runs over student in Mirsharai

“Why can we not have speed limits on the road? Why could we not make a road safe? Please ask yourself these questions. Why cannot we  get a safe road!”. Nizampur Government College principal Mohammad Rafiq Uddin said these words after Mishu Rani Devi (18), a student of Nizampur Government College of Mirsarai Upazila, Chittagong, was killed in a road accident on Tuesday. 

Earlier, Nizampur Government College student Mishu Rani was killed by a covered van in front of the college on her way to private study at around 9 am. Mishu Rani's body lied on the side of the road. Later the police came and rescued. Mishu Rani was a second year student of Business Education Department of Nizampur Government College. She is the daughter of Surya Mahan Debnath of West Khaichhara village of Khaichhara union of the upazila.

The covered van that hit Mishu Rani, Kumira Highway Police said that the driver of the covered van. Shahjahan (49) and his assistant. Limon (25) was arrested. Police officer in charge of Kumira Highway police station. Abdullah said that a student named Mishu Rani Devi was killed in front of Nizampur Government College after being hit by a covered van around 9 am. We have arrested the driver of the covered van. He said that the body of Mishu Rani has been handed over to the family after the legal process.

The teachers and students of Nizampur Government College have expressed their anger over the death of Mishu Rani. After the incident yesterday, College Chhatra League general secretary Taijul Islam Arian said, This is a very sad incident. I feel very bad for the brilliant student Mishu Rani. A memorial service has been organized by the college today (Wednesday).

Farewell to the cries of relatives and classmates: Mishu passed SSC from Rani Khayachhara School and got admission in Nijapur Government College. When the news of his death reached the area, a shadow of grief descended. Teachers, classmates, relatives and locals rushed to their house. After Mishu Rani's body came home in the afternoon, the relatives burst into tears. Hundreds of college students, parents and local people rushed to catch a glimpse of him.
