A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to Bangladesh national team cricketer Nasir Hossain, his wife Tamima and mother-in-law in a case filed over his illegal marriage.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Mohamamd Jashim passed the order.

Earlier they surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case.

On September 30, the court issued summons against them after the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), filed its probe report on the charges brought by Tamima’s first husband Rakib Hasan.

According to the PBI report,Tamima’s marriage to Nasir is void, since her divorce with Rakib was not valid. The divorce documents that were filed with the marriage registrar’s office were forged.

On February 24, Rakib filed the case with the court. He alleged that he and his eight-year-old daughter were severely traumatized due to such an immoral and illicit relationship between Tamima and Nasir.

Tamima, who works as a cabin crew in a foreign airline, however, claimed that she had divorced Rakib in 2017. She also admitted that she was married to Rakib, and they had a child together.

The wedding ceremony of cricketer Nasir and Tamima was held at a restaurant in Uttara on February 14.

After the photos of their marriage went viral on social media, Rakib filed a general diary with Uttara West police station. It says he was married to Tamima 11 years back and they have an eight-year-old daughter from the marriage, and that she had not divorced him.

According to the PBI report, Tamima had married Nasir before she was properly separated from Rakib.

Mizanur Rahman, the PBI's investigating officer in the case, filed charges against Nasir, Tamima and her mother Sumi Akter in the case filed by Rakib.
