A young man and his wife reportedly committed suicide by hanging themselves on the same rope. This incident took place at Ranisankail upazila in Thakurgaon.
The hanging bodies of husband Bipul Chandra, 22, and wife Parul Rani, 20, were recovered by police on Tuesday morning.
Police also recovered two separate handwritten notes of Bipul and Parul Rani next to their bodies.
The deceased Bipul Chandra was the son of late Seth Kumar of Birashi Para area of Parbatipur village.
The deceased Parul was the daughter of Jhatalu Singh of Barakot Adhardighi village of Baliadangi upazila. They got married 8-9 months ago.
On the hand notes, Parul Rani requested to return her worn gold ornaments to her father’s custody and husband Bipul requested to conduct their cremation at the same time. However, the reason for the suicide was not mentioned in the hand notes.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ranishankail Police Station Abdul Mannan admitted that they received two hand notes, saying it was not possible to reveal the exact reason why the couple committed suicide. However, the matter is being investigated.
According to the locals, there were no in-laws or brothers-in-law in the family of Bipul and Parul. They also did not have any family feud. So, the reason why they committed suicide seems mysterious.
Lehemba Union Parishad chairman Abul Kalam said, “I went to the spot after getting the news of the suicide of the husband and wife in Chapor Parbatipur village. Then after receiving the news, the police recovered their bodies.”
