Country’s first wind power project being built in Cox’s Bazar

The country's first wind power project is being constructed at Khuruskul in Sadar upazila of Cox's Bazar.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid MP on Thursday noon laid the foundation stone of the power project. The turbines of the wind power project are being constructed at Khuruskul PMkhali Chaufaldandi Union in Cox's Bazar.State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid MP said that apart from the Khuruskul project, another wind power project with a capacity of 50 MW would be constructed at Inani in Cox's Bazar. He said the government's big cloud project is being implemented in Cox's Bazar. Special guests were Saimum Sarwar Kamal, Member of Parliament for Cox's Bazar Sadar and Ramu constituencies, and Habibur Rahman, Secretary, Ministry of Power and Energy. BPDB chairman Mahbubur Rahman and other senior officials were present at the time.

Project Director Engineer Mukit Alam Khan said the project is being implemented at a cost of about Rs 900 crore. Work on the project will be completed by next December. The electricity generated from this project will be connected to the national grid to meet the demand of Cox's Bazar.

The project is being implemented by US DK Green Energy Limited.
