CoU student fatally injured hit by bus

Tisha Plus driver sued

A case has been filed by the university administration over the injury of Mohammad Irfan Ullah, a student of Statistics Department of Comilla University (Kubi) in a road accident. University security officer Sadek Hossain Majumdar con­firmed the matter on Saturday.

Security officer Sadek Hossain Majumdar said, “We filed a case on the November 9. The driver is absconding and his name is not known. The police administration is active to arrest the driver.

Regarding the matter, Mainamati Highway Police Station OC Mizanir Rahman said, “The case has been filed with Kotwali Model Police Station and the case is being investigated by Mainamati Highway Police Station. We hope the accused will be arrested within the next 24 hours.

In this regard, University Proctor (Acting) Kazi Omar Siddiqui said, “The university filed a case as a plaintiff. Police are trying to nab the accused. The police seized the bus that hit the student.

University's Vice-chancellor Professor Dr A F M Abdul Moyeen said, “I went to the hospital today (Saturday) to see the injured student. He has had an operation. The university administration stands by the injured Irfan Ullah. We will extend him legal and financial help.”

Earlier on Thursday (November 9) at 9:30 am, a Dhaka-bound Tisha Plus bus hit the victim student Mohammad Irfan Ullah's bicycle in the Jagarjhuli World Road area of the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway. The victim student Mohammad Irfan Ullah is a student of the 2019-2020 academic year of Statistics Department. 

When he was taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital with severe injury, the doctor on duty asked him to go to Dhaka. He is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital at Kalyanpur in Dhaka.
