Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud on Thursday said all kinds of corruption, including admission trade, in the country’s education sector will be eliminated, reports BSS.

“Not only admission trade, but also no corruption will be tolerated in the education sector. No corrupt people will be spared. The people involved in admission trade will have to suffer severe consequences,” he said, replying to query from a journalist in front of the ACC head office in the city.

The admission process should be run following the rules and regulations, Iqbal said, adding that the commission will continue its ‘zero tolerance’ policy in this regard.

He said the commission will be active more against the coaching and note-guide businesses and inquire to identify those who become owners of illegal asset through the businesses.

Replying to another question, the ACC chairman said the commission has given approval to cases over embezzlement of over Taka 31 crore in Rooppur pillow scam.

The cases will be investigated thoroughly, he said, adding if involvement of anyone more is found, the name will be included in the charge-sheet.

Noting that the ACC has surveillance on the mega projects, Iqbal said the commission has taken firm stance against irregularities and corruption in projects.
