Corruption allegation against health inspector

A total of 54 health department employees and officials including 28 women in Jhenidah Sadar upazila have brought wide allegation of corruption and inappropriate behavior against acting health inspector Delwar Hossain. 

In a written complaint to the divisional director of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in Khulna, Assistant Health Inspectors (AHI), community health care providers (CHCP) and health assistants (HI) said since his joining as the acting health inspector, Delwar Hossain has started monopoly at his office. 

He usually uses abuse oral language with his colleagues. His body language to the staff and employees made the situation bored to the employees, especially, the female employees. 

Delwar Hossain realizes money from the employees for training, casual leave and other allowances. Even for a trifling matter, he threats the employees shouting the names of some of the political personnel of Jhenaidah. 

Some o the women employees of DGHS in Jhenaidah said they feel shy to appear before the acting inspector even for office work as he makes some sensitive and unethical comments. They said the health inspectors in Jhenaidah have expressed their solidarity with the petitioners to take stern action against the “dishonest, corrupt and unethical” man in the department. They had demanded his immediate removal from the present workplace. 

DGHS divisional director in Khulna Dr. Rasheda Sultana when contacted, said she formed a three-member probe committee to investigate the allegation against acting health inspector of Jhenaidah Sadar upazila Delwar Hossain. The committee was advised to submit report within a day or two. If the said employee is proved guilty, legal steps will be taken then, Dr. Rasheda Sultana said.
