Cop saves three kids from drowning in river

A policeman under Durgapur Police Station saved three drowning children from turbulent Hoza river on Tuesday morning. 

It is learnt, those three children were playing on the hanging bridge on the river when they suddenly fell into the river and were being washed away by strong current of the river. Many people standing beside the river were just watching or taking video of the drowning child but no one came forward to rescue the children. 

By watching the children being washed away into water of the river, constable Atique, driver of Durgapur Police station, jumped into the river and dragged those three drowning children ashore by risking his life. Such a humanitarian act of constable Atique received a wide ovation from the local people and from the police.  

The rescued children were identified as Mahadi(11) son of police constable Jakir Hossain, Rubel(11) son of Younus Ali and Swacchho(10) son of local college teacher Ainal Haque. 

Atique said, while he had been going to the Police Station from home in the morning, he watched those three children were being washed away by the strong current of water of the river  Hoza. 

He instantly jumped into the river and rescued the children from his sense of duty and responsibility. Many people standing beside the river were just watching the scene but no one came forward to rescue the drowning children. 

Khurshid Banu Kona, Officer in charge of Durgapur Police station informed, police forces are playing a pioneering role in all crucial incidents including during the Liberation war, disaster and epidemic of the country. By rescuing three drowning children, constable Atique has glorified the image of the police forces.
