Reminding the engineers of their expected roles in building a prosperous nation that derives benefits to the people, State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque on Thursday urged the executive engineers to be more responsible in planning, administrating, and implementing projects under their supervision.

“There are many lands of the Bangladesh Water Development Board, which have not been using for many days. You should find out these unused places and bring these areas under your supervision. You can go to visit these areas at least a day in a week”,  Zaheed Farooque said this while addressing as the chief guest a conference titled ‘Executive Engineers Conference-2019’ at International Mother Language Institute Auditorium in the capital.

Zaheed Farooque said, “We have taken many projects. The projects have been piloted to implement Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’. The working area of the water development board has extended compared to earlier. So, you have to be more responsible as the success of the government depends largely on your contributions.”

Thanking executive engineers as well as the Water Development Board, he said, “The way you worked remaining beside the river erosion people round the clock, was not seen in the past. You remain beside the people in disastrous situations. I hope you will make utmost efforts for the development of the country.”

In his speech as the special guest, Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem urged the executive engineers to work with honesty, saying “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to ensure good governance and peace. You all have to be more responsible to continue the ongoing development spree.”   Expressing optimism for the Executive Engineer Conference every year, the Deputy Minister said, “I am trying to make water resources ministry as the best ministry.”

Water Resources Ministry Secretary Kabir Bin Anwar presided over the conference. The secretary said, “We have to start e-monitoring system in order to get better management. We need task force, training and logistic support in this regard.”
