Construction of Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator progressing

Construction of the Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator Centre is going on in full swing at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET).

Officials said the construction work in the Tk 125 crore project nears completion.

CUET started work on the project with a view to create successful entrepreneurs in the country's IT sector, encourage research and innovation activities at university level and advance industry-academy collaboration. 

On June 6, 2017, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the project to set up Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator on CUET campus with ECNEC Chairman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair. The project is being implemented under the supervision of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority.

Under this project, the main incubation centre of 10-storey building will be constructed on CUET campus.

A 6-storey multipurpose building and two modern dormitories with 200 rooms are also under construction. On Friday, Hosne Ara Begum, Managing Director (Secretary) of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority visited the project site at CUET and inspected the work progress.

She also exchanged views with the project officials, engineers and contractors and later also paid a courtesy call on CUET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam.

ANM Shafiqul Islam, Director, Finance and Administration, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, Syed Zahurul Islam, Project Director, Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator, Md.  Mostafa Kamal, Khadija Akter, Deputy Director, Finance and Administration, Narottam Pal, Deputy Director, Operations and Maintenance, and Shahriar Al Hasan, Assistant Director (Investment), were present.

CUET was represented by Chief Engineer Md. Sirajul Islam, Director of Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mashiul Haque, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Dr. Mohammad Samsul Arefin.
