Construction of new roads begins in Mymensingh

Mymensingh City Corporation Mayor Ikramul Haque Titu inaugurated the construction work of 6 roads in Mymensingh City Corporation's expanded new area, Ward No 23 on Saturday noon. The construction of 5 km long roads in the city is costing around Tk 11 crore.

The roads inaugurated are: RCC Road from Sutiakhali KBI Road to Palbari, RCC Road from KBI Road to Akkas Ali Moralbari Rail Line, BC Road from Khalpar Mahbub Chairman's house to Dupi Para, Sutiakhali Rahman's house to Councilor Shahnaz Begum's house, RCC and BC roads from Sarkarbari Omar Ali Road to Bhatipara Baitunnahar Jame Mosque and from Madhyapara Mosque to the boundary of Namapara City Corporation.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function held at Sutiakhali, Mayor Ikramul Haque Titu said that Sheikh Hasina is the leader of development of this country. She has given Mymensingh the status of division and city corporation. She has given projects worth Tk 1,575 crore for the development of the city corporation. From this project, 60 percent has been allocated for the development of newly included wards.

"Our development has been hampered by the Covid-19 pande­mic," he said. Without the spread of Covid-19 infection, the works would have been visible for so long, 3 times the current development was possible., he added. At this time, the mayor sought the cooperation of all. "We want to move forward," he said. He stated that he wants to build the wards as model words. There is no alternative to cooperation from the people for this. Councilor Sabbir Yunus Babu of Ward 23, reserved women councilors Shahnaz Begum and Shammi Akhter Mitu, Executive Engineer Zillur Rahman, Assistant Engineer Jasim Uddin, local dignitaries were present during the inauguration.
