Construction of 33/11KV power station in Habiganj begins soon

A 33/11 KVA new power sub-station at a cost of Taka 250 million will soon be set up adjacent to the Modern Stadium of Habiganj to ensure uninterrupted power supply and to resolve the low-voltage problem of the town. 

Advocate Abu Zahir, Member of Parliament of Habiganj-3 constituency visited the site for the proposed construction of the sub-station on Friday. He was accompanied, among others, by Mohammad Ullah, Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Magistrate Morjina Khatun, Project Director  KM Nazim Uddin and  Shamim Farhad, Executive Engineer of Habiganj Power Development.

Shamim Farhad, Executive Engineer of PDB in Habiganj informed, electricity is Habiganj is now distributed through only six feeders resulting a frequent disruption in power supply system. With the construction of proposed Tk.250 million Power Sub-station within next one year, eight more feeders will be addded to the power supply system which will ensure uninterrupted power supply and the problem of the low voltage. During the site visit, MP Abu Zahir said, BNP left the country with only 3,000 megawatt of power generation capacity but the present government has improved the capacity to over 22,000 megawatts. Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, electricity has been supplied to to 95 percent of families of the country.
