Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman has accused certain groups of conspiring to delay national elections in the country.
He said, “We are observing with deep concern - a well-planned conspiracy is on the way to implementation in the country. Some political forces without public support and isolated from the people are trying to postpone the elections by causing an artificial deterioration of the law and order situation. Their objective is clear - to obstruct a free, fair and impartial election and divert the constitutional stream to a different sector. At the moment, BNP and its leadership are at the center of their conspiracy. Political forces that believed in democracy, which have stood for the rights of the people in the past, are facing various types of political harassment, character assassination campaigns and organizational obstacle.”
He said this in a meeting organised at BNP party office premises in the city's Nasimon Bhaban at 4 pm on Wednesday.
He said, the people of the country are ready for change. The people want their voting rights to be restored, there should be a fair election. At this moment, every leader and activist of ours must be organized, aware and ready to thwart any conspiracy of evil forces. BNP has never tolerated injustice and will not do so. Mob terrorism is not the path of BNP - BNP is in favor of justice, democracy and peaceful political culture.
Former General Secretary of Nagar BNP, Abul Hashem Bakkar, said, currently, false propaganda is being continuously spread in the name of BNP, which is part of a kind of political conspiracy. A conspiracy is underway to undermine their political influence by presenting BNP as unreliable and unstable. The purpose of such misleading propaganda is only one - to create confusion among the people and create advantages for the fraternal rival forces of the party.
But BNP has been fighting relentlessly for the country for a long time and the people understand this truth of ours well.
He said various excuses and conspiracies are also being made to postpone the election time. Attempts to postpone the election by citing the deterioration of law and order or instability of the situation are just an organized plan for political gain.
BNP has taken a firm stand against such conspiracies and will continue to struggle hard to ensure fair, impartial and timely elections for the people of the country. We believe that the country will not be stable without the victory of democracy.
