Conflicts between Palestine-Israel

Immediate ceasefire is a must

We express deep concern about Israel’s declaration of a “state of war” as its army continues to face off against Palestinian fighters in several areas across southern Israel.

Besides, we also urge immediate ceasefire of armed conflicts between Palestine-Israel. The Bangladesh government has already denounced the ongoing armed conflict between Israel and Palestine and deplores the resultant loss of innocent civilian lives and injury of victims. Escalation of conflicts and violence benefits no party. Israeli warplanes pounded downtown Gaza City, home to Hamas' centers of government, with relentless bombardments into early Tuesday, after Israel’s prime minister vowed retaliation against the Islamic militant group that would “reverberate for generations.”

The 4-day-old war has already claimed at least 1,600 lives, as Israel saw gun battles in the streets of its own towns for the first time in decades and neighborhoods in Gaza were reduced to rubble. Hamas also escalated the conflict, pledging to kill captured Israelis if strikes targeted civilians without warning. Mass displacement escalated in past 24 hours across the Gaza Strip, reaching 180,000 people – expected to increase further. Over 137,500 people sheltered in 83 UNRWA schools, bread distributed with WFP [World Food Programme], according to international media reports.

All parties concerned should

 refrain from excessive and indiscriminate

use of force in the

conflict

Besides, the spiralling conflict has been felt globally, with oil prices surging on fears of tightening supplies and demonstrations supporting both Israel and Palestine staged in many countries. The Bangladesh government emphasized the idea of both states coexisting independently without occupation, in accordance with UN Resolutions No. 242 and 338.

Therefore, both Israeli and Palestinians must exercise maximum restraint and call for an immediate ceasefire to avoid further loss of innocent lives from both sides. Bangladesh holds that living under the Israeli occupation and forced settlements in Palestinian territory will not bring peace in the region.

The anticipated outcome of such an arrangement was seen as potentially fostering lasting peace and stability in the region. All parties concerned should refrain from excessive and indiscriminate use of force in the conflict.

We are calling upon all parties to work towards ending the conflict. We also reiterate that only dialogue and diplomacy could lead to a lasting solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

We believe that a lasting solution to the Palestine issue would be possible only through dialogue and diplomacy and call upon all parties to work towards this end.
