Paba thana police on Sunday morning recovered the body of a young man from inside the room of Haripur Union Parishad where the young man was kept confined from Saturday.
Bazley Rabbi Al Hasan Munjil, Chairman of Haripur Union Parishad informed, the rural police of the UP complex watched the dead body of the young man hanging from the window in the early morning of Sunday. He claimed, the young man committed suicide.
The deceased was identified as Mofazzal Hossain (30) son of Tofazzal Hossain of Jugalpur village under Chanduria Union of Tanore upazila. He was a van driver by profession. He was married to the daughter of Rafiqul Islam of village Nalpukur under Haripur union of Paba upazila 10-12 days ago.
UP Chairman Munjil informed, just a couple of days after marriage, wife of Mofazzel came back to the house of her father Rafiqul. She refused to return to her father-in-law's house. Two-day ago, Mofazzal came to his father-in-law's house to take back his wife. He was then in a drunken stage. Local people took him to the UP office and he (Chairman) called for arbitration with two sides on Sunday.
As a result, Mofazzal was kept at a room of the UP building on Saturday night.
The on-duty rural police on Sunday early morning watched through the window the hanging dead body of Mofazzal inside the room of the UP building and informed police.
Mazharul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Damkura Police station informed, they watched the dead body of Mofazzal hanging with the torn part of a quilt with the window. The Criminal Investigation Department of Police has been informed and they will remove the dead body from the spot.
He further said police were investigating the incident and it will be clear after the autopsy report whether it is a case of murder or a suicide.
