Agriculture Minister and Awami League presidium member Dr Md Abdur Razzaque said many district, upazila, municipal, union and ward conferences of the Awami League could not be organised due to the long-running Corona outbreak. Many committees have expired too.

At the moment the corona infection rate has come down a lot, now we have to start working following the hygiene rules. The party needs to be reorganized and better organized by forming new committees through the council. At the same time, the allied organizations of the party including Chhatra League, Juba League and Krishak League also need to be better organized, he added.

The minister said this while addressing a special extended meeting of Upazila Awami League at Madhupur Upazila Parishad auditorium in Tangail district on Thursday.

Razzaque said the committee should give place to the tested and dedicated grassroots activists who were by the side of the party in difficult times. Those who are dishonest and opportunistic will not be given a place in the committee. The activities of forming union and ward conferences and upazila committees of will be expedited, the minister added.

To the local leaders Dr Razzaque said that the Union Parishad elections are ahead. In order for the nominated candidates of Awami League to be victorious in this election, everyone has to work in unison. Everyone has to abide by the discipline of the team. Strict organizational and punitive measures will be taken against those who will become rebel candidates in an attempt to defeat the boat candidates, despite being party members.

The Minister further said that whether Awami League is in power or not, it has always been a very strong and important party in the politics of Bangladesh. The party has been playing an important role in any issue in the national interest since its inception. The Awami League never plays the role of a silent spectator in the national interest.

Addressing BNP Razzaque further said, “In the name of democratic movement, you should refrain from arson, terrorism and anarchic activities of burning innocent people in cars, houses and streets.

Get ready for the next 2023 elections, participate in the elections. If the people of the country choose you with their votes, we will welcome you. But the current Awami League government cannot be overthrown through terrorist-anarchic activities. BNP does not have that strength.”

Madhupur Upazila Awami League President Khandaker Shafiuddin presided over the function while General Secretary and Upazila Chairman Sarwar Alam Khan Abu and Municipal Mayor Siddique Hossain Khan spoke at the time. Leaders and activists of different levels of Upazila Awami League were present at the time.
