Rajshahi 'Divisional Recovery Conference' with former drug addicted persons and their guardians were held at AHM Kamruzzaman Zila Parisahd auditorium in Rajshahi on Saturday.
A total of 564 persons who took treatment at 47 drug-addict recovery centres in eight districts of Rajshahi division and got recovered attended the function. The Department of Narcotics Control, Rajshahi division, organised the program.
All the recovered persons vowed not to take drugs any more. They also requested the concerned authorities so that no drug is produced in the country and no drug could enter into the country by crossing the border.
Presided over by Additional District Magistrate Abu Aslam, the function was attended by Dr Humayun Kabir, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner as the chief guest while Rajshahi range DIG Abdul Baten, RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique and Rajshahi SP ABM Masud Hossain attended as special guests. Zafrullah Kazol, Additional Director of Narcotics Control Department of Rajshahi delivered the welcome speech at the function among others.
Addressing the recovered persons, Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi Dr Humayun Kabir said, 'You are the assets of the country. Never under mine yourselves. Get employed whatever work you can manage. If you remain busy with work, you will forget the drugs. Hope, all are well.'
DIG of Rajshahi range Abdul Baten at the function said, ' Members of Law enforcement agencies were trying their best to control drugs. The guardians can also play a responsible role in this connection. They should watch the movement of their children to keep them out of the drugs.'
