Conference on innovation management held at DIU

A two-day Innovation stakeholder consultative conference on ‘Technological Innovation Management Centric Initiative for Building an Innovation Economy’ was held at Daffodil International University (DIU).

Professor Dr M Nawaz Sharif, internationally famed expert on technological innovation and technology transfer was present as the keynote speaker. Industries secretary Md Abdul Halim inaugurated the conference as the chief guest while Dr Md Sabur Khan, chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU presided over the programme. Professor Dr Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, vice chancellor (VC) of DIU, Professor Dr Masum Iqbal, dean, Faculty of Finance and Entrepreneurship, Abu Taher Khan, director, Career Development Centre also addressed the programme.

Career Development Center, Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Skill Jobs and Bangladesh Venture Capital jointly organized this conference.

Md Abdul Halim said, “Technological revolution is going on in Bangladesh. To be benefited through this revolution we have to emphasise on technological innovation.” He stressed on the development of technology friendly young generation.

Abdul Hamid said that the present government has taken initiatives like establishing technological training center, technology university, including technology education in the text curriculum in school and college levels.

Professor Dr M Nawaz Sharif said that no technology can sustain forever and no technology company can sustain as market leader for long time. Leading Technology of twenty years back is now rejected. In the same way today’s technology will become obsolete in future. So it is time for Bangladesh to take leadership in global technology market.

Dr Md Sabur Khan in his speech said, “The main purpose of technology is to ease our life and give more benefits. But we wouldn’t be benefited through technology due to our negative mentality. So, we have to be positive minded in using innovative technology.”

He added that we will have to be more conscious about the use of latest and innovative technology for economic development.

More than 50 participants from different organizations attended this conference and participated in 10 different sessions. The conference concluded on Thursday.
