Companiganj youth killed by teen-gang

Members of a teenage gang have been accused of publicly beating a young man to death in Companiganj upazila of the Noakhali district. The incident took place at around 8pm in KG road of upazila’s Rampur Union on Friday.

Police have arrested 6 members of the gang and said the killing of an 18-year-old boy was the result of teenage gang-violence. The deceased, Sheikh Jahed, is son of Rafiq Ullah, who is an electrician from upazila’s Rampur union. 

During the incident, another 18-year-old named Omar was also  severely injured. He is admitted at the hospital in critical condition.

Rezaul Haque Sohag, uncle of the deceased, said that, “On Friday night, my niece Jahed was publicly beaten by a group of 15 to 20 people including Amir Hossain, Nur Hossain, Rased, Hridoy and Apu, who were the members of the teenage gang Hridoy group. 

Jahed was later rescued in critical condition and taken to Companiganj Upazila Health Complex where he was given first aid. However, he died when he was on the way to Noakhali General Hospital for advanced treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Companiganj Police Station Arifur Rahman said, that the exact cause of the murder was being investigated.
