College teachers in Chatmohar without pay for two decades

Published : 10 Nov 2022 08:22 PM

Many students who have passed higher secondary from Handyal College, Chatmohar, Pabna are working in government and private institutions. Although they get salary allowance from the working institution, as their pervious college is not under MPO, their teachers are not getting salary allowance even though they have been teaching for almost two decades.

It is known that in 1998, due to the lack of higher secondary level educational institutions, some students of the Handyal Union of Chatmohar, Pabna established the Handyal College near the union headquarters. The college got academic recognition in 2005. College Code No-3279. Twenty-four years after its establishment, the college has not received a Masthali Payment Order (MPO). Two principals of this college died while working without salary. 20 subjects are taught in science, humanities and commerce departments in the college. Even after a long time, 32 teachers and staff of the college are living a miserable life due to non-payment of salaries.

Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, the lecturer of Islamic History of the college said, I joined Handyal College in 2001. I have been teaching continuously for twenty one years without salary. MPO has not been approved by the college so far. It has become almost impossible to provide for the education of sons and daughters and to run a family. Our students pass out and get government and private jobs in different places and are getting salary and allowance, but we are still deprived of salary and allowance. We do not understand what is the joy of the mind.

Abdul Khalek, a lecturer in logic, said, I joined the college in 1999. I thought it would be a salary allowance. I will live happily and peacefully. I have been teaching for almost two years without salary. A family of four has to run. Cultivate a small amount of land. You have to go to college even if you don't get salary.

There is chaos in the house with this. I am worried about when the salary will be, whether it will be.

Not only Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal or Abdul Khalek, the 32 teachers and staff of the college like them have been working without pay for almost two decades and are living an inhumane life. They sought the intervention of the higher authorities concerned to make the college an MPO.

Principal of the college Mohsin Alam said that 32 teachers and staff are working tirelessly without pay. About three hundred students are studying. I have applied repeatedly for MPO inclusion. Since there is no MPO, we are passing the day with great difficulty. He sought the intervention of the concerned higher authorities to make the college MPO.

In this regard, Maghreb Ali, a secondary education officer working in Chatmohar, said that there are some rules for getting MPO admission. Hope the college will be MPO if it fulfills the policy. I am doing my best.

Although teachers and employees play a role in the expansion of education, they are not getting government financial benefits as they are not part of the MPO. Teachers and staff are living inhuman life.

Rabiul Karim, president of the college, said that the teachers and staff of the college have been working tirelessly for almost two years without salary. Despite repeated applications for MPO admission, MPO was not admitted. It is very important that this college located in Chalanbil area is MPO affiliated.
