College teacher arrested with phensedyl

The whole world is suffering from the horrors of coronavirus pandemic but there is no stopping of illegal phensedyl trafficking. To make the matter worse, teachers, lawyers, doctors, bank officials, and other big businessmen are also joining this lucrative drug business.

The net profit of trafficking one bottle of phensedyl from Benapole to Barisal is Tk 500. A teacher of Barisal government model school and college could not resist himself from this opportunity and came all the way from Barisal to Benapole with his motorbike to take phensedyl. Five of the other phensedyl smugglers escaped after being chased by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), but the teacher could not.

On Monday, Lt. Col. Selim Reza, commander of Jessore 49 BGB said that after receiving information from the BGB’s intelligence, they stopped a suspicious motorbike which was on its way to Barisal via Benapole Bazar. After stopping that motorcycle rider, they searched his schoolbag, which was hanging on his neck and found 80 phensedyl bottles. 

The detained person’s name is Nazrul Islam Sumon, father's name is Maqbool Ahmed. He is an Assistant Teacher of the Barisal Gov. Model School and College.

The detained Nazrul Islam Sumon told journalists that to take phensedyl, six of them came from Barisal to Benapole by motorcycle. He also informed that many times in the past they have smuggled phensedyl in the same way. They control the entire Barisal city’s drugtrafficking.

Sumon said he was accompanied by doctors from Barisal Sadar Hospital, Mithu, Uttara Bank officer Donna, prominent businessman Bullet and Monir. BGB failed to catch them. The arrested person was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
