Three people including a college teacher were arrested by the district detective branch (DB) of police while giving proxy in police constable recruitment test in Gopalganj. The matter has been confirmed by Officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalganj district intelligence branch Md Mueed Chowdhury.

The arrested persons are -- Md Arman Molla (18), son of Md Farid Molla of Khanjapur village of Muksudpur upazila, Pradeep Sarkar (18), son of Keshab Sarkar of Bahu village and Md Zahidul Islam (42), son of Md Delwar Hossain of Bashbaria village.

It is initially learnt that accused Md. Zahidul Islam is a teacher of a private college in Muksudpur. Later, District Intelligence Police Inspector Md. Mueed Chowdhury himself filed a complaint with Gopalganj Sadar Police Station. According to the complaint, on 28/03/2024, District Intelligence Branch Officer Md Mueed Chowdhury was in charge of Police Constable Recruitment Examination Center Room No. 204 at Gopalganj Sheikh Hasina School and College.  On that day at 10:30 am during the examination, one person bearing of Roll No. 5710298 was suspected, he (Mueed) checked his admit card and found a discrepancy between the photo of the admit card and the face of the candidate. When questioned first accused Md. Arman Mollah said that with the help of the 3rd accused Md Zahidul Islam, he took part in the written test instead of the 2nd accused Pradeep Sarkar, who was the real candidate in the police constable recruitment examination for the purpose of financial gain.

Accused No. 1 Md. Arman Molla also said that accused No. 2 Pradeep and accused No. 3 Zahidul Islam are staying at the outer gate of the examination centre. He then immediately informed the senior police officers of the district and with the help of other policemen on duty in the examination room, accused No. 2 and 3 were brought to the examination room through the accused No. 1.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopalganj came to the examination center room and found that accused No. 2 instead of Pradip Sarkar, accused No. 1 Md. Arman Molla, using fake identity, admitted to participating in the examination using Pradip Sarkar's name. Superintendent of Police Al-Baili Afifa cancelled the examination papers of the PPM fake examinees and ordered legal action against those involved.  Accused Md. Arman Mollah, despite not being an examinee, presented himself as an examinee and participated in the examination instead of Pradeep Sarkar and the other accused filed a charge under section 3/9(3)/13 of the Public Examination (Offences) Act, 1980 against the accused for the crime of assisting the examinee and the accused themselves after pleading guilty, they were sent to jail by a mobile court.
