A college student was killed and his friend injured after a truck hit their motorcycle in Rampura area in the city early on Sunday (July 23).
The deceased was identified as Pulock Gomez, 21, son of Bipin Gomez. Pulock is a student of HSC second year at Martin Luther College. His friend 21-year-old Zahed Hasan who was driving the motorcycle was also injured in the road crash.
Pulok’s brother-in-law Roni Michel Rozario said the road crash took place at about 3:00 am in front of Better Life Hospital when Pulock and his friend were returning home in Norda from old Dhaka by a motorbike after having some food (Biryani).
Critically injured Pulock and his friend Hasan were first taken to a private hospital. Later, Pulock was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated. Later, he was declared dead there by the on-duty doctors.
Sub-inspector (SI) of Hatirjheel Police Station Mehdi Hasan confirmed the matter. The SI said said Zahed is currently undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Pulok, the youngest of three siblings, lived with his family in Norda Sarkar Bari area.
His father Bipin Gomez is an expatriate worker who is currently living in Bahrain.
