College student beaten to death in Bagha

A college student was beaten to death by his neighbours following a dispute over cutting the branch of a tree at Bagha upazila on Wednesday. 

The victim was identified as Ridoy Ahmed (20) son of Dil Mohammad Dukkhu of village Kaligram of the same upazila. Police arrested four accused in connection with the murder of Ridoy. Ridoy died on the way to Dhaka on Wednesday night. 

Nazrul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Bagha police station informed, on Wednesday noon, Ridoy had been cutting the branch of a tree beside his house. 

During this time, neighbour Sadeque Ali claimed the tree belonged to him when they locked into an altercation over the ownership of the tree and at a stage of the altercation, another family members of Sadeque, including his wife Rumia Begum, son's wives Azmiara and Kalpona came out of their house and attacked Ridoy with rods and hammers and injuring him fatally.  

Injured Ridoy was rescued by other neighbours and he was rushed to local hospital. When his condition deteriorated at night, he was being carried to Dhaka through ambulance but he died on the way. 

Bagha thana police arrested Sadeque, his wife Rumia Begum and their son's wives Azmiara and Kalpona in this connection. The dead body of Ridoy has been sent to the morgue of RMCH for autopsy.  A case has been filed accusing 15 persons in this connection.
