Cyber police arrested a youth in Bogura on Thursday midnight on charges of embezzling money and jewelery through love affair.
The arrestee was identified as Tanjimul Islam Rion, 22, son of late Tajul Islam of Chakdevpara in Naogaon. He lived with his mother at his grandfather's house in Tinmatha Mor area of Chowdhury Para in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura.
A team of Bogura cyber police arrested Rion from in front of a shop at Tinmatha Mor area in Dupchanchia upazila. Rion is a BBS 1st year student of Kamruzzaman Degree College (JK) in Dupchanchia. Police sent him to court on Friday and asked for a 7-day remand.
On Friday afternoon, Bogra Cyber Police Department Inspector Emran Mahmud Tuhin said that Rion used to save pornographic pictures and videos of girls after building love affairs with them. He used to cheat in a fancy way and take money and gold ornaments from the girls. Mother of a victim girl filed a case after being cheated by him.
Sanatan Chakraborty, media spokesperson of Bogura District Police and Additional Superintendent of Police, Sadar Circle, said that during preliminary interrogation it was found that he had love affairs with multiple woman. He had pornographic pictures and videos of more than 20 women stored in his phone.
He added that Rion recorded these videos and stills through a screen recorder while talking on video calls through various online based means of communication. Later, using these, he extorted money and gold ornaments through blackmail.
He also said that police had filed a case against him under the Pornography Act with Bogura Sadar Police Station and sent him to court on Friday demanding seven days of remand.
