College principal fined for violating ban order

Ruhia Ginni Devi Mohila College principal has been fined Tk 20,000 for violating government ban during the Corona epidemic. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun handed down the sentence on Tuesday afternoon. The fine was recovered immediately.

The Upazila Nirbahi Officer said that the students of Ginni Devi Agarwal Women's College in Ruhia Union of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila were called to the college on their mobile phones in the name of selection of beneficiaries of the stipend.

Upon receiving the complaint, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah-al-Mamun along with Upazila Secondary Education Officer Mosharraf Hossain and Ruhia Police Station Police Force raided the college. When Principal Badrul Islam admitted his mistake, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdullah Al Mamun fined him Tk 20,000.

It is to be noted that despite the government announcing closure of all types of educational institutions to prevent the Corona epidemic, Ruhia Ginni Devi Agarwal Women's College in Thakurgaon took the exam in the stipend beneficiary election and the examination fee was hiked to Tk 5/6 per head.

Students of HSC Science branch of Ruhia Ginni Devi Women's College in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila took the exam on August 12 at 11 am.
