A college girl was killed and another injured when a motorbike carrying them collided with a bus at the slope of Hanif Flyover near Ananda Bazar of Chankhar Pool area under Shahbag Police Station in the city on Monday. Police identified the deceased as Manisha Barman Othoi, 20, a third year Honors student of Dhaka Mohanogor Mohila College.
The accident occurred in the area last evening while a biker identifying him as Galib with his pillion Othoi lost control over his vehicle and rammed into a bus, police sources said. The bus then ran them over, leaving the pair critically injured, they said. Local people whisked them off to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where Othoi succumbed to her injuries.
Both of them hailed from city’s Gandaria area. The girl’s body was kept in the hospital morgue for an autopsy. Police have already arrested the bus driver and seized the bus.
