Cold spell sweeps Dinajpur, sale of warm clothes rises

The whole country is facing severe cold waves for the last few days. The temperature is very cold in Dinajpur and the adjacent areas. Working class people are having a lot of problems due to winter. To survive this winter, they are running to find warm clothes.

On the one hand it is a holiday clearance sale, on the other hand, many people are buying warm clothes at low prices in Dinajpur Kachari Bazaar due to the severity of winter. Thousands of shoppers flocked to the sidewalks of the Dinajpur town to sell winter clothes. Some of the customers are busy bargaining, some of them are busy buying clothes of their choice. They all came to buy warm clothes. Same pictures cane be observed in all areas of the town.

 After 2 pm, sidewalk shops started sitting in different areas of Dinajpur town. After 3 pm, the sales of winter clothes increases. 

The presence of shoppers of different ages including women and children in each shop is noticeable. People from all walks of life, from low to middle income, have come in search of warm clothes. The most sought after items in these stores are trousers, full sleeve jeans, local and foreign jackets, badgers and children's clothing. Sales of shoes, socks, hats and various types of blankets have increased. The price of these clothes is also within the reach of the buyer. So buyers are giving priority to buying the product of their choice instead of bargaining.

Jackets are available for 150 to 650 Tk, different types of undergarments are available for 30 to 250 Tk in the markets of Dinajpur. Handmade sheets and shawls are available at Tk 150 to Tk 500 and jeans jackets at Tk 200 to Tk 350. Blazers are available at one thousand to two thousand Tk. Trousers are available at 100 to 250 Tk. Various sheets and shawls including handicrafts are available at 150 to 500 Tk.  Shoes, hats and scarves are available for 30 to 150 Tk. On the other hand, different sweaters for children are available at 100 to 350 Tk, full sleeve tee-shirts are being sold at 150 to 300 Tk, jacket at 150 to 300 Tk. Though the customers are saying that the price of these clothes are a little bit high from the previous year. Sales of winter clothes have also increased in various shopping malls of the city.

According to the Dinajpur Meteorological Office, the temperature in Dinajpur was recorded at 9.36 degrees on Friday. 

Various government and non-government organizations have been seen distributing blankets to the cold-stricken people.
