The severity of cold is not decreasing in Thakurgaon due to the cold wave and depression in the Bay of Bengal. The poor and rootless people are shivering in this condition, as there are fogs at night and the sun is not visible during the day. More people are coming to the hospitals with cold related diseases.

The whole district has  been plunged in thick fog for the last ten days. The vehicles are moving keeping their headlights on. The drivers are grooving their way on the road risking their lives. On the other hand, solar panel powered street lights could not get charged due to the lack of sunrays so, the streets  remain in  darkness.

Low-income group of people are suffering a lot as they cannot get out finding work. They are living miserably along with their family members in this biting cold. Distressed helpless people not having enough warm clothes are lighting bush fire to keep themselves warm.

Children and elders are being afflicted with diseases like pneumonia and diarrhea. More than hundred patients are being admitted to Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital with cold related  diseases every day, causing huge management problems for the hospital.

Child Consultant of Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital Dr Shahjahan Newaj said they are having troubles to manage the increasing rush of patients in the hospital. He advised parents to keep their children wrapped up in warm clothes to keep them safe.
