The cold-hit people at Mirzaganj in Patuakhali have received blankets with the help of Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief on Sunday.
Volunteers of PDM Foundation took the initiative to distribute the blankets among the cold-hit poor people in the area.
Organising Secretary of Awami League Advocate Afzal Hossain distributed the blankets to more than 300 cold-hit people at a field in the area.
Advocate Afzal Hossain was the chief guest at the blanket distribution programme. The programme was presided over by Upazila Parishad Chairman M Abu Bakar Siddique.
The recipients expressed satisfaction and said that the blankets will help them fight the chilling cold in the winter season.
Leader of Mirzaganj Upazila Awami League M Masud Rana Jalil conducted the programme. Mirzaganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tania Ferdous, other senior Awami League leaders of the upazila and Patuakhali were present at the programme.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) M Rayhan Uzzaman distributed blanket and warm clothes among the poor people in Monohorkhali Ashrayan Project in the evening.
