Coffee farming in Chuadanga triggers huge interest

A coffee garden has been made at village Hat Boalia in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district on the basis of commercial. Many people have been visiting at the garden as well as they are motivated to make coffee garden, sources added. 

According to sources, 330 plants of Robusta and Arabica varieties have been planted on 1 bigha of land in 2020. The plants are bearing followers and fruits. Harvesting will start on December. The fruits will be processed as dust coffee using in machine to be sold to the customers.  

Kalu Mia, manager of the garden said, coffee cultivation may be play vital role for self-reliant and solving unemployment of youths in the district. 

He also said, many people of the areas like taking coffee at morning and afternoon. So this garden has been set up for compromising local demand. Besides establishing coffee gardens in the district will be economical solvency to youths and farmers. 

Chuadanga District Agriculture Department and Alamdanga Upazila Agriculture Office are trying to motivate the farmers and un-employed youths for cultivation coffee at their respective villages for providing themselves as earing resources. 

Mosle Uddin, a sub-assistant agriculture officer of development section of agriculture extension department said, coffee cultivation does not spread out in four upazila of the district still now. Hope that gradually in future this cultivation will increase here. 

Bevash Chandra Saha, Deputy Director of District Agriculture Extension Department said, he thinks that coffee cultivation will be increased in the district.
