Coast Guard detains 7 bandits in Lakhmipur

Contingent Raypur unit of Bangladesh Cost Guard detained seven bandits along with local weapons including Chinese axe, machetes in a raid operated at the Old Berighat area of Raipurupazila in Lakshmipur in the early hours on Friday.

Lt Commander Amirul Haque, media officer of the force’s headquarters, confirmed the matter on Friday. 

Amirul Haue said, “Two suspected boats were given signal to stop but they tried to get away, on the raid conducted following a dope. On chasing, coast guard officials could detain one of the boats and seven of the band with their local weapons.”

The detainees are Akter Molla (28), Din Islam Hawlader (25), Baker Shikder (26), Moktar Molla (20), Ismail Molla (22), Akter Rari (23) and Shafiq Hawlader (21). All of them are the residents of Mandrachar Khushira village under Hijla Upazila of Barishal. The detainees were delivered to Raipur Police Station with the weapons. 

He further said that the Coast Guard will continue its operations across the areas they cover to implement law, control smuggling, maintain public safety as well as to siege piracies and robbery.
