Chattogram City Police (CMP) has taken various steps to make Eid uninterrupted. All specialized forces, including the CMP's bomb disposal unit, have stepped in to ensure security. Police authorities already launched 5 sub-control rooms. The security system of 11 cattle markets in 6 police station areas of the city is being monitored through the latest technology including drones.
This was stated by CMP Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir at a press conference held at CMP Media Center on Thursday afternoon. Three additional commissioners of CMP Shyamal Kumar Nath, Shamsul Alam, Sana Shaminur Rahman and other senior police officials were present at the time.
CMP commissioner said that people should be careful while going out of the house for vacation as hazardous accidents may happen due to negligence. Police’s intelligence committee has mobile team, bomb disposal team, sweeping team, striking reserve, quick response team as well as RAB in the field. There are also crime scene vans and fire services. Each police station is ready to provide 24-hour citizen service. Along with Alongkar Bus Stand, New Railway Station, Bahaddarhat Bus Terminal, Alongkar Mor, Karnafhuli Bridge, authorities have opened 5 more temporary sub-control rooms. Mentioning that special arrangements have been made for animal markets, the CMP commissioner said that measures have been taken to ensure that no one can force animal trucks to take to any market. Measures have been taken to ensure that no one can trade in approved hats and illegal poles. There are also police escorts to transport cash.
Passenger transport is risky when empty trucks carrying livestock from different parts of the country return to the city. The police are careful not to let anyone get this opportunity. He also said that strict security measures have been taken at bus stands, railway stations, boats and market areas.
Asked about the security arrangements for Eid Jamaat, he said security would be provided centrally by the Chattogram Metropolitan Police at Jamiatul Falah National Mosque and Andarkilla Shahi Jame Mosque and the big Eid Jamaat. Besides, security of Eid Jamaat in other mosques will be provided from police stations and outposts.
Eid Jamaat-centric duty, regular mobile duty of the police station, white-clad police system and DB team will be deployed.
It was also warned that DJ playing loud songs by renting sound boxes in trucks or mini trucks would be brought under the law.
