Police have arrested Abu Taher Masum, 35, from 37 No Mohim Das Road area of Kotwali Police Station in the city, accused in 27 cases of CMP listed top terrorists. At that time, 2 rounds of ammunition including 1 LG were recovered from him.
He was arrested around 10.30 pm on Friday in front of Sreyan Photocopy Shop on Mahim Das Road in Kotwali area of the city.
He arrested accused is the son of Abul Bashar alias Bashar of Enayet Bazar Batali Road in Masum Nagar. He is accused in 27 cases of carrying weapons, drugs and explosives.
According to police sources, accused Abu TaherMasum is an armed top terrorist. He carries out criminal activities in different areas of the city including Railway Station, New Market Junction,Ambagan, Shah Amanat Market, Anderkilla, Jamalkhan, Brickfield, Fishery Ghat from evening to dawn everyday. At that time, he used to snatch mobile phones, money and gold ornaments from pedestrians and bus passengers. He is also a professional yaba trader in the area.
Confirming the matter, Kotwali Police Station AC Noble Chakma said, "CMP-listed terrorist Abu TaherMasum was arrested in a regular raid by Kotwali Police Station on Friday night. At this time 2 rounds of ammunition including 1 domestic LG were recovered from him. There are 27 cases in his name under the Arms, Narcotics and Explosives Act. In fact, the accused is a professional snatcher and an illegal armed terrorist.
The accused has been committing these criminal activities for a long time by evading the law enforcement agencies. Noble Chakma said that appropriate legal action will be taken against him.
