Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has launched a mobile app called "Nirapad-Stay Home, Stay Safe" to monitor home quarantine confirmation activities to combat coronavirus.

CMP Commissioner Md. Mahabubar Rahman inaugurated the app at the Dampara CMP headquarters in Chattogram on Thursday afternoon.

It is reported that the app will confirm the location of the people in the home quarantine through Geo Fencing Technology. If a person staying in home quarantine tries to leave the specified location the app will send an alert notification. In addition, the web based admin panel will provide instant information to the police station's monitoring unit.

Initially, the app based monitoring started operation in 16 police stations in the port city, but the phase-wise monitoring of the app and web-based system (police monitoring) will spread throughout the country soon,  according to CMP sources.

It’s noted that under the app 41 people are still being monitored staying in home quarantine. Additional police commissioner (administration and finance) Ameena Begum, Additional Police Commissioner (crime and operation) Shyamal Kumar Nath, Additional Police Commissioner (traffic) SM Mostak Ahmed Khan, Deputy Police Commissioners of various departments and officers of INOVACE TECHNOLOGIES were present at the inauguration.
