Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has issued 32-point instructions on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community.
The idol will be dedicated on October 5. Idol immersion should be done by 6 pm on Vijaya Dashami.
CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy held an exchange meeting with the leaders of various government agencies and Puja Udjapan Parishad on Thursday afternoon.
CMP Commissioner highlighted the instructions in the press conference considering the spread of Corona virus and the law and order situation.
The CMP guidelines include- No entry to Puja Mandap without mask. The sides or top of the mandap should be kept open. The idol pandal should have its own security system around it. Separate hand washing facilities, hand sanitizers and thermal scanners for men and women should be kept at the entrance of the puja mandap.
It has directed to control the crowd at the entrance to the puja mandaps, install CCTV cameras and record video footage.
Not more than 20 people can stay inside the mandap. All sides or upper part of mandap should be left open.
If there is any conflict with the Puja Committee, the Chattogram City Police has asked them to discuss it with themselves or with the Metropolitan Puja Committee. If there is something like this, it has been asked to be careful so that it does not have any effect during the puja.
CMP says that the emergency service numbers of the police and fire services should be displayed in a visible place with the instructions to preserve the phone and mobile numbers of the emergency services. A generator should be kept ready as an alternative power supply. Faulty electrical connections should be repaired promptly. An electrician should be employed full-time. Emphasis is placed on setting up puja mandap in safe places. Puja Mandaps should have fire fighting system. For example, fire extinguisher, water, sand etc.
Installation of hand held metal detectors, archways and CC cameras have also been emphasized in the directions of the CMP. It has been said that there should be fire fighting system, adequate water system should be kept. No theme, cultural program or DJ party can be organized in the temple or puja mandaps. The sound system should be turned off during Azan and Namaz.
According to the CMP instructions, we must be careful from ignorant parties and malam parties. Avoid eating or drinking anything offered by a stranger.
Cars cannot be parked anywhere except in designated areas. Puja Mandap authorities should take action against and prevent sexual harassment or molestation of women and inform the police. There should be separate entrance and exit for men and women. Women volunteers should be kept.
Directing the Puja Mandap Management Committee to deploy full-time male and female volunteers, the CMP Chief said specific attire should be provided to facilitate identification of the volunteers. Besides, the list of names of volunteers should be given to the OC of the local police station.
CMP Chief said that the news of any incident should be given to the law enforcement agencies as soon as possible. Taking drugs is prohibited. Fairs or gambling events cannot be held around the puja mandaps. Firecrackers should be avoided. Any kind of rumor or unwanted matter on Facebook or social media or in person should be reported to the nearest police station.
