CMP hosts banquet for separated children

Private organization 'Upalabdhi' shelters children separated from their families. Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has organized a banquet and day-long programmes with these children.

The event was organized on a ground of Police Lines located in Dampara of the city from Saturday.

During this time, children participated in various activities including number competition, spoon-marble competition.  60 children participated in it. Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy was the chief guest on the occasion.  Rita Das, President of CMP Punak (Police Women's Welfare Association) was the special guest.  Biswajit Chowdhury, Joint Editor of Prothom Alo, Chairman M Saiful Islam, Founder General Secretary Shaikh Ezabur Rahman were the guests.  Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Faisal Mahmud, Additional Commissioner of Police (Finance and Administration) MA Masud, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Ops) ASM Mahtab Uddin were present.  The program was conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Spina Rani Pramanik. CMP Police Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy said, none of these children have father and mother identity.

He said that the doctor comes regularly to check the health of the body.  Besides studying, children draw pictures, take cricket training, play chess.  This is really great work.  The journey of Upalabdhi began on December 12, 2012.  Upalabdhi has set up alternative accommodation for 65 children on four floors of a six-storey residential building at 71 Shivbari Road of Firingi Bazar in the city.  The journey of an organization called Upalabdhi began with a three-member committee of Shaikh Ezabur Rahman, his wife Shahnaz Begum and daughter Tahsin Rahman.
