CMP files 119 cases against transports for violating health rules

Although public transport is supposed to be plying in accordance with the health rules, it is not being followed in Chattogram city. 

They do not keep any hand sanitizer or disinfectant in public transport. Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has been conducting drive against public transport not following the rules in the city since last Sunday.

CMP has filed 119 cases against various public transports and detained 36 vehicles for violating health rules conducting raids at various spots on Sunday. Besides, CMP has fined various public transports Tk 5 lakh 20 thousand for violating health rules.

CMP Deputy Commissioner (Traffic-North) Mohammad Shahidullah said 119 cases & 36 vehicles were seized and a fine of Tk 520,000 was imposed for violating health rules since Sunday. It also continued on Tuesday. This will continue until the situation is brought under control.

According to CMP sources, the CMP traffic department has been conducting awareness activities at  various important corners of the city since Sunday to ensure safe travel. Public transport is being monitored at various important places in the city. 

Additional Commissioner of City Police (Traffic) SM Mostaq Ahmed said that although public transport was supposed to run in compliance with health rules, no one was abiding by it. All bus stands and inter-district vehicles are under strict surveillance. 

The traffic department is trying to ensure that passengers and public transport in the city follow the health rules announced by the government. Special check posts and activities have been and will continue to be carried out by the CMP Traffic Department in different areas of the city to ensure health rules in the movement of vehicles.
