Published : 19 Apr 2021 10:05 PM

The CMP has declared four areas of the city as highly infected areas as there are more than 60 cases of corona infection against lakhs. Police have specifically identified four areas of the city's four police stations as the rate of infection continues to rise alarmingly despite the government's ongoing lockdown ban. Although all this has been done in the style of a red zone, the CMP says that it is not a red zone but is being declared as a highly infected area. Because the Red zone declaration is given by the health department. But the Chittagong health department is not acknowledging any such information.

CCC 41 wards of infection and death were recorded from the District Civil Surgeon's Office. In the list of those areas- Joynagar residential area of Chawkbazar police station, Panchlaish police station and OR Nizam residential area, Saraipara of Pahartali and Sabujbagh residential area of Halishahar police station have been declared as highly infected areas.

Additional police have been deployed in these areas. The police are not allowing anyone to leave the house except very urgently. Obstacles are being created in all kinds of movements. The police will also need permission to go out in case of emergency. Everyone will have to stay at home for the next two weeks, Police said. Miking has already been done since Monday morning.

CMP Deputy Commissioner (Crime) Zainul Abedin said, "If there are more than 60 people per lakh corona infection test in an area, that area will be considered a red zone." Yellow zone if 3 to 59, green zone if less. We are going to impose strict restrictions on four of 55 areas in the 41 wards of the city by identifying them as highly infected areas. In fact, the issue of red zone has to be announced by the health department, so we do not call it red zone. Bureaucrats are basically going to tighten lockdowns in highly infected areas. Since the lockdown is ongoing, no new rules have been issued for those areas. We will have special surveillance and action in only four areas.

CCC Chief Health Officer Dr. Selim Akhter Chowdhury said, “We have information that all the places except wards 40 and 41 of the entire city corporation area have been identified as red zones. The police are looking into the matter.

Chittagong Acting Civil Surgeon Mohammad Asif Khan said, 'Red zone is not a new issue. When it will be announced or not is a matter for the higher authorities. I will not say that there is no chance of being a red zone. However, we have not yet received official instructions. '
