A 28-year old member of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) with the corona virus like symptoms on Monday morning.
The policeman was working as a constable in CMP Public Order Management (POM). He joined Bangladesh Police in 2012.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of City Police and Public Relations Officer Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the matter.
CMP said samples were collected and sent for testing after his death to confirm whether the deceased policeman was infected with the corona virus. Once the report is received, it can be confirmed.
Police officer Abu Bakar Siddique said the funeral of the deceased policeman was held at the CMP Dampara police line while maintaining social distance and hygiene.
CMP Commissioner Md. Mahabubur Rahman along with senior officials of CMP participated in the funeral. After that, his body was sent to Parshuram area of Feni village under CMP management for burial.
