As part of ensuring overall security arrangements at cattle markets ahead of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali on Monday visited Bibirhat and Moijjartek cattle markets in the city.
During the inspection, he reviewed the overall situation of the markets and spoke with journalists, traders, leaseholders, and buyers.
He said, various aspects of the security measures taken by CMP at the cattle market sites.
CMP remains on high alert to ensure that no untoward incidents, fraud, or harassment occur surrounding the buying and selling of sacrificial animals.
He said, regular monitoring will continue to maintain law and order in all markets.
CMP Commissioner said that an emergency control room has been set up for any assistance or legal support related to the cattle markets, and quick communication facilities are in place. Police are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of livestock traders and buyers arriving from distant areas.
He mentioned that special measures have been taken to prevent fraudulent groups, extortion, and excessive toll collection. Issuing a strict warning, he said that if any complaint regarding overcharging is found, strict legal action will be taken against those responsible, including leaseholders.
Senior CMP officials were present during the inspection, including Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Wahidul Haque Chowdhury, Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters) Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic-North) Nesar Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Police Commissioner (Port) Md. Amirul Islam along with other senior officers of CMP.
