Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has proposed to build a reservoir instead of a swimming pool on the roof to ensure clean water.
He said, "Earlier there was a reservoir. As a result, I would have been spared if there was a flood. I could treat that water and use it as drinking water. Now the previous situation is no more. Many have rooftop swimming pools. Now the rain water has to be used. I suggest to build a reservoir instead of a swimming pool on the roof. To build Chattogram into a modern city, the system of fresh water must be ensured.
He said this in the chief guest's speech at Chattogram WASA’s exchange meeting on Monday night, organized at Hotel Radisson Blue Bay View Chattogram's Mohana Hall.
CCC Mayor said, if work is started everywhere, people will suffer greatly. So the project should be completed by completing one ward and starting work on the next ward. Those who are involved in the work of the city should work through the system in coordination with them. The road is 4-5 meters deep at many places. If 3 feet of the road is cut, the rest of the road will collapse. Our road capacity is 12 tons. The lorries that leave the port weigh 40-50 tonnes. Therefore, those involved in the project must be informed about this work.
He said, "There is no pond in the city. People are suffering from water. We should plan. Anger due to lack of water. Protest in front of WASA with the urn. The water layer has gone down a lot. Water is also not available in the deep tubules. But iron. can't eat Therefore, planning and implementation of drinking water collection and conservation is very important.
Highlighting the importance of the sewage project, Mayor Rezaul said, "There is no alternative to this project. The population of Chattogram is increasing day by day. There are 70 million people. Also village people are also city-oriented. If Chattogram is not planned, it will be unliveable.
According to the sources, the outline of the sewage treatment plant (Sewage Treatment Plant) project in Chattogram has been finalized. The implementing agency Chattogram WASA said that in the first phase, six sewage treatment plants will be constructed in six zones of the city and two faecal sewage treatment plants will be constructed in the entire city.
