Sabina Khatun, Maria Manda, Monika Chakma and Ritu Parna, who played in the AFC Women’s Champions League for the Royal Thimphu College (RTC) in Bhutan, returned home on Sunday.
Sabina, Maria, Monika and Ritu Parna want to carry out their Champions League expreices during the national team’s mission in the upcoming SAFF Championship.
All four national team’s women footballers after their returning home home joined the national team’s camp and said their experiences of playing for the club of Butan will helpful for them.
However, apart from Sabina, for rest of the three players - Maria, Monika and Ritu Parna had their first experiences of playing for a foreign club.
Maria, Monika and Ritu Parna were a bit unhappy as their national team’s captain Sabina could not play due to complications of her (Sabina) clearance from previous club of India she played for last year. It would be better if they would have Sabina in field. All the players were happy with their team’s (RTC) hospitality in Thimphu.
Ritu Parna, Maria and Monika, who are excited having the opportunity to play for an overseas club, expect more Bangladeshi footballers would have the chances in future to play for the foreign clubs.
Maria said, “This is the first time I had the chance to play for a club of outside the country (Bhutan). We want to play in the overseas league regularly. It’s a great experience, we can learn a much.”
Ritu Parna, who is also thrilled having the opportunity for first time to play for a foreign club, said, “This time we were four players had the chance, it will be more significant for us, if more players will get chances to play in the league and different competitions for the oversease clubs.” Sabina, Maria, Rupna and Monika will meet the players in their SAFF Championship to be held in October in Nepal, with whome they shared dressing room in Thimphu during the AFC Champions League.
