Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) rigid decision not to hold its rally in Dhaka on December 10 at Suhrawardy Udyan has triggered panic among the city people. Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said they will consider if the government offers them to hold the programme any other suitable alternative venue to Suhrawardy Udyan. He categorically made the party’s stance clear that they would not hold rally at Suhrawardy Udyan.
It is very clear to all that BNP wants to deceive the country’s people by showing more people in a small place in Paltan or other place like Motijheel on December 10, because the stage is fulfilled with only 20-30 thousand people. It also wants to hold its rally at Naya Paltan for creating anarchy.
If any sort of anarchy and unruly activity takes place or the BNP people try to unleash a reign of terror in the name of the grand rally in capital Dhaka on December 10, who will provide security to the people specially who will be moving the city streets for official or business purpose on December 10. Therefore, people are panicked and worried now as they think capital Dhaka city may turn into the ground zero of something horrible on the day.

The country is being ruled by the elected government but the BNP leaders are spreading falsehood against the government. The government should take necessary steps to provide security to general people and to maintain peace in the capital Dhaka and its adjacent districts.
Law enforcers must take all-out measures, including keeping different vested quarters and communal forces alongside Dhaka city BNP leaders and activists under close watch, to prevent subversive activities in advance. Besides, surveillance will have to be reinforced to stop entering arms and explosives in the city before the rally.
We hope the BNP will hold its rally at Suhrawardy Udyan. BNP men must not lean towards any kind of violent activities during the rally on that day.
All should remain united and alert so that none can play any game against the country during the Dhaka rally.
