The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police unearthed the clue to a three-year-old Shahidul Islammurder case after Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), the specialized unit for investigation, failed to crack it.
CID’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shaikh Nazmul Alambriefed the media on the case at its headquarters in the capital’s Malibaghon Tuesday.
It was a big success of CID as we cracked the mystery of a completely clueless murder case, DIG Nazmul Alam said. The CIDalso arrested the two accused in connection with the case. The arrestees were identified as prime accused Rozina Akter,30, and her second husband Md Momin,40.
Rozina was wife of slain Shahidul’sbrother-in-law.
Rozina and Shahidul developed a physical attachment after the former lost husband while the latter was jobless and married. At one stage, Rozinabegan refusing him and left herhome in Kushtiaand went to Manikganj.
The young widow got a job in Manikganj and later fell in love with Momin, who was her supervisor. Later, they got married.
Angered over the refusal, Shahidul alleged that Rozina cunningly took money from him affair and disclosed that they both had a physical relation even before her first husband died. He also used to disturb Rozina through phone calls.
Later, Rozina and Momin planned to get rid of Shahidul. On October 23, 2017, the couple brought Shahidul to the Nobogramplayground of SripurUpazila in Magurawhere they stabbed him to death before dumping the body.
Later a kidnap case was filed over the missing of Shahidul.
Policerecovered the body and recorded a murder case on December 24 in 2017 and submitted final report on June 6, 2018.
The PBI also investigatedthe case but failed. A court then ordered the CID started to crack it.Within a few days, the CID unearthed cluesto the murder and arrested the two suspects.
Later, CID arrested Rozina from Ashulia on November 22 and Momin from Narsingdion December 7.
Rozinagave confessional statement disclosing her involvement along with husband Momin in the murder. During primary interrogation, Momin also confessed to involving in the murder.
