A visually striking Islamic sculpture has been inaugurated at the municipal bus stand square in Jibannagar, Chuadanga. The unveiling took place on Thursday afternoon and was led by Chuadanga District Commissioner Mohammad Zohirul Islam.
Among others present at the ceremony were Jibannagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Al-Amin Hossain, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Municipal Administrator Syedjadi Mahbuba Manzur Mouna, Officer-in-Charge of Jibannagar Police Station Md. Mamun Hossain Biswas, Agricultural Officer Alomgir Hossain, and Social Services Officer Jakir Uddin Moral.
Speaking to journalists after the inauguration, the DC stated that this is a busy four-way junction, and a structure at the centre was necessary to help vehicles navigate the turn more easily.
After the previous installation, known as “Tiger Square,” was dismantled, locals requested an Islamic-themed sculpture. Responding to this demand, a beautiful and eye-catching Islamic sculpture was erected.
The DC expressed gratitude to the municipal administrator for making it possible.
When asked about the need for traffic police at the junction, he said the matter would be discussed with the Superintendent of Police and action would be taken if deemed necessary.
The sculpture cost BDT 830,758 and was funded by the Jibannagar Municipality.
