Chittagong Abahani taste first win

Midfielder Mannaf Rabby and his Nigerian attacking partner Ifegwe Ojukwu David netted one goal apiece, as Chittagong Abahani Limited won over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 2-0 in the sixth round of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football. 

Held at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium, Gopalganj on Saturday the first half of the match ended in goalless draw. 

After the interval, Mannaf Rabby opened the account for Chittagong Abahani in the 53rd minute while Ifegwe doubled the margin in the injury time of the match.

This is the first win for Chittagong Abahani after sixth round while fourth it was defeat for Sheikh Jamal. 

Chittagong Abahani earned six points from as many matches when Sheikh Jamal also managed the six points from six matches.  

In the day’s another match, Fortis FC shared points with Brothers Union after a 2-2 draw at Muktijuddha Smrity Stadium, Rajshahi on same day. 

Brothers’ attacking midfielder Mohammad Rabby Hossain Rahul scored just on eighth minute of the match. Fortis FC’s Gambian striker Omar Babou equalized margin with converting a penalty on 41st minute.

Brothers took lead again in the 69th minute with striker Mahbubur Rahman Sufil scoring the team’s second goal.

Ukranian midfielder Valerii Hryshyn of Fortis FC leveled tally to snatches a point after scoring in the 78th minute.

With this draw, Fortis FC collected six points from six matches and move to sixth place from eighth. It was Brothers third draw when they have three points from six outings and remained on 10th position in the table.
