Chitalmari Darul Uloum Madrasa’s 56th annual Waz Mahfil begins today. The two-day event is expected to draw a large number of devout Muslims from across the region.
The mahfil will be presided over by the prominent Islamic scholar, Maulana Anwarul Karim Jashori, Principal of Jashore Rail Station Madrasa. He will be joined by a number of other renowned scholars and religious figures.
In an announcement on Friday, the Principal of Darul Uloom Chitalmari Madrasa, Maulana A. R. Rahman, extended a heartfelt invitation to the public. He encouraged people to attend in large groups to "earn immense blessings for both this world and the hereafter."
Providing background on the institution, Maulana Rahman stated that the madrasa is a leading pure Islamic educational center. It was established on an estate endowed by Samsunnessa Chowdhurani, the paternal aunt of the legendary political leader Sher-e-Bangla A. K. Fazlul Haq.
He further noted that special prayers are offered annually during the mahfil for these benefactors and their families. The event is known for its inclusive arrangements, with dedicated and separate facilities allowing women to listen to the sermons in privacy. Local students and community members volunteer their services to ensure the event runs smoothly.
