A discussion on child protection was held on Thursday morning at the MR Convention Hall in Kotbazar, Ukhiya, with the active participation of religious leaders from different faiths.
Organised by the Islamic Foundation, Ukhiya, the event was supported by World Vision, SHED, Food for the Hungry, Good Neighbors Bangladesh, and Global Development Services Organisation.
Religious leaders, local government representatives, and journalists attended the event. The discussion was chaired by Moktar Ahmad, Panel Chairman of Ratnapalong Union Parishad, with Dr Syed Hossain, Livestock Officer of Ukhiya Upazila, serving as the chief guest.
Special guests included Saeed Muhammad Anwar, President of Ukhiya Press Club; Abul Kalam Azad, Programme Manager of SHED Ukhiya AP; and Mohammad Sayef Ullah, Upazila Field Supervisor of the Islamic Foundation.
Speakers emphasised the vital role of religious leaders in ensuring child protection, moral education, preventing violence, and promoting positive values in society. They highlighted the need for collective efforts from families, educational institutions, religious centres, and social organisations to ensure children’s physical and mental development.
